Coventrians urged to support city's restaurants and bars

Coventrians are being urged to shake off the January blues and support the city’s restaurants and bars this month.

The cost-of-living crisis continues to have an impact on the hospitality industry as finances are more stretched and people spend less on leisure activities.

Restaurants, bars and venues across the city have launched a range of cost-cutting deals on food and drinks this month, to help people enjoy an afternoon or evening out on a budget.

Hospitality bosses are urging city residents and visitors to get out and support businesses to help them navigate through a challenging period.

Paul Jones, Managing Director at Visit Coventry, said: “After a strong festive period, the beginning of a new year presents unique challenges for the hospitality sector.

“Consumer spending naturally reduces in January, impacted by people having less disposable income after Christmas and others embarking on a new year health kick, and this has been heightened again by the cost-of-living crisis.

“However, after an incredibly difficult couple of years for businesses across the city, it’s more important now than ever before to show support for our fantastic restaurants and bars.

“There’s some good news to help people overcome the January blues though, and venues across the city are pulling out all the stops to help people enjoy a meal out on a budget.

“We would urge everyone to get out and take advantage of these great offers and provide a boost to the hospitality sector across Coventry.”

This month has seen venues ranging from independent restaurants and breweries, to major national pub chains and fine dining experiences, announce cut-price offers and deals to encourage customers through their doors.

Restaurants, including Miller & Carter Coventry, The Quicken Tree at the Heart of England Conference Centre, and Marco Pierre White, located in The Manor Hotel at Meriden, are offering deals to allow people to enjoy their experience at a reduced price.

Pubs including Brewers Fayre and The Open Arms have all revealed January sale deals to help people enjoy great pub grub on a budget.

A range of offers have been provided to help families eat out together this month too, including at TGI Fridays, Beefeater and Bella Italia.

Bars in the city centre have also launched special menus for this month, including The Botanist and Turtle Bay. Meanwhile down at Fargo Village, Twisted Barrel is running a Tryanuary promotion to give punters the chance to sample their vegan beers as part of Veganuary.

People travelling to the Skydome in the city can also enjoy special dessert offers at FOMO Bar.
