Photo Miners Board Membership

Coventry based Photo Miners are recruiting an advisory board as the organisation develops and gets ready for Coventry City of Culture 2021. We are looking for about 6 board members that are able to join in approx 4 meetings a year, initially online, and have time to contribute to discussion between meetings.

Photo Miners is a Community Interest Company that started in 2016 with a big impact in the four years since. We have developed a reputation for exciting activities that engage communities. Major projects have included the Masterji exhibitions and book, Tale of Two Streets (8 venues, 500K audience) and Imagine Willenhall and Imagine Bedworth, hyper local exhibitions about place and belonging.

We also consider collaboration as fundamental to our future. We’ve been involved in many projects, supporting artists and organisations with our knowledge, skills and experience. We are looking to develop this aspect of our work.

We have recently received an emergency grant from Arts Council England that will help us establish The Photo Mine as F2F and digital spaces. The Mine is a workshop and place to meet for those who want to use photographic archives in their practice. We also intend to open a gallery space during the year of City of Culture and are applying to ACE to support this.

The main roles of board members are:

  • Acting as critical friend to the directors on the development of Photo Miners as a business.

  • Offering guidance on the development of our programme & thinking about our future.

We’d like our board members to come from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences to encourage us to see and think differently.
