We are hosting a Networking Breakfast Event on Friday June 16th 2023 and warmly encourage you to join us. At the free event we will explain our plans for the future, offering back stage and hard-hat tours. For more information visit Business Breakfast Networking Event » The Albany Theatre
The Albany Theatre is quickly establishing itself as the leading community venue for the arts in the city. Professionally managed but led and supported by a small army of volunteers, exciting development plans are underway that will result in two studio theatre spaces; two further flexible spaces for rehearsals, meetings and varied community use, and new café and improved bar facilities to help establish The Albany as a welcoming community and artistic hub.
As the former College or Butts Theatre (part of Coventry Technical College) The Albany has a rich history. Having been used for morale boosting entertainment for Coventry, it was home to one of the first two repertory theatre companies established by the new Arts Council of England in 1946 – the rep company moved to The Belgrade in the late 1950s.
Saved by Coventry Council, The Albany is now celebrating ten years of steady growth. Every year over 4,500 children and young people perform on the Albany stage. Last year, for the first time, we sold over £1m worth of tickets – and donated over 700 tickets for our in-house Christmas productions to foodbank users, refugees and volunteers. The new facilities will help us to achieve self-financing sustainability.
Come and join us on the 16th and hear how you can help support and promote our work. There are many ways you can do this – we are keen to become part of your social responsibility portfolio.
