Free festivals for inquisitive minds of all ages will take over the University of Warwick campus this spring and summer, with science and the arts taking leading roles.

Activities inspired by scientific discovery will take place at multiple venues as part of the Resonate Festival of Science and Technology kicking off on February 29 with events on March 7 and 10, with the chance to conduct live experiments, explore natural history and witness cutting-edge engineering.

Sessions for adult audiences will include an evening all about weather in Leamington Spa and a showcase of work by behind-the-scenes scientists.

On Sunday, March 10, visitors of all ages can get hands-on at the Resonate Festival of Science and Technology Day Out, complete with interactive demonstrations, exciting new technology, as well as talks and workshops, all taking place on the University of Warwick campus.

Saturday, April 6 sees the return of The Big Read, a celebration of reading, writing and storytelling in collaboration with Warwick Arts Centre and Kenilworth Books. Visitors can pay to see ‘Charlie Cook’s Favourite Book’ in the Warwick Arts Centre theatre or join free read-alongs and craft activities, as well as the chance to meet some beloved fictional characters!

In June, the Resonate Festival of Arts & Culture will bring together creativity from across the globe for events spread across the month, including evenings talks in community spaces across Coventry and Warwickshire and a day of activities for all ages.

Visitors can head to the Resonate Festival of Arts & Culture Day Out, held across Warwick Arts Centre and the Faculty of Arts Building on Sunday, June 2, featuring theatre performances, creative workshops, and lots of opportunities for visitors to unleash their creativity.

Resonate is the Warwick Institute of Engagement’s public events programme, designed to help more people access eye-opening events, talks and activities on their doorstep.

Dr Kerry Baker, Associate Director at Warwick Institute of Engagement, said: “We are looking forward to hosting two brand-new festivals this year, with more opportunities than ever before for people across Coventry, Warwickshire and beyond to be entertained and fascinated by an incredible range of events and activities.

“With science and the arts each getting their own festival, the range of topics we are able to share is even bigger than before. Our aim is to create memorable and inspiring days out for people of all ages and give our communities the chance to get curious about their favourite topics as well as new ones.”
