A popular Christmas concert that raises thousands of pounds for the region’s vulnerable young people is set to once again spread festive cheer.

The Coventry Cathedral Chorus will be getting into the Christmas spirit to raise money for the NSPCC with a day of festive music with two festive Christmas Concerts on behalf of Coventry & Warwickshire Children’s Charity.

The NSPCC Christmas Concert, returning to Coventry Cathedral on Saturday, December 14, is part of a series of regular events hosted by the Coventry and Warwickshire Children’s Charity to raise money for the local branch of the NSPCC during the Christmas period.

The Jaguar Land Rover Band and the Coventry and Warwickshire Youth Orchestra will both be performing in addition to the choir with other live performances from local school choirs.

The Jaguar Land Rover Band will be kicking off the festivities with a range of familiar Christmas hits during afternoon concert show from 2.30pm until 4.30pm before the Coventry and Warwickshire Youth Orchestra perform Christmas favourites and yuletide classics at the evening concert from 6.00pm until 8.00pm.

The event which is returning for its fifth year, is made possible thanks to its sponsors including Jaguar Land Rover and TGFP Chartered Accountants and Chartered Tax Advisers.

The Coventry and Warwickshire Children’s Charity, formerly the Coventry and Warwickshire Business Board, has raised over £3 million through its events over the last 22 years to help protect and support vulnerable children across the region.

Hamilton Bland, who is on the board for the organising committee, said: “Each year our Christmas concerts are always popular with people of all ages coming along to get festive and celebrate the Christmas season.

“It’s during the Christmas period that vulnerable people need our help the most, and I have no doubt that the day will be another huge success.”

Paul Leddington Wright, musical director of the concerts, said: “It is an honour to be able to support the Coventry and Warwickshire Children’s Charity and the NSPCC once again by spreading festive cheer with Christmas just around the corner.

“We will be bringing Christmas favourites of all genres to life with our choirs, orchestra and band. The concerts will provide a varied programme of well-known Christmas music for all the family to enjoy.”

Tickets for the event are priced at £15 and family tickets are also available, priced at £40.
