Children in care across the region will receive an egg-cellent treat in time for Easter as a leading Midlands law firm has donated over 100 Easter eggs and fluffy bunnies.

Leamington-based Wright Hassall has hopped at the chance to send treats to local children in care after the company was forced to cancel a holiday film event.

The firm was due to host an Easter screening of Peter Rabbit at the Vue Cinema in Leamington for staff, clients and their children, but following government advice, the event was cancelled leaving around 180 Easter gifts unused.

Easter eggs and fluffy bunny soft toys were due to be handed out at the event but the firm decided to donate them to Warwickshire County Council to be distributed to children in care homes across Warwickshire in time for the Easter weekend.

Graeme Parrott, Sales & Marketing Director, at Wright Hassall said: “We were so disappointed to have to cancel the screening, but rather than see the chocolate and toys go to waste, we decided to donate them to Warwickshire County Council and a good cause.

“It’s a tough time for everyone at the moment, so to be able to help make Easter a bit more special for local children is a wonderful opportunity.

“The whole company has really been working hard to support local businesses and communities during this pandemic so we are glad to be able to help in any way we can.”

The firm, which has temporarily closed its offices and has staff now working from home, has been busy dealing with requests from companies for support during these challenging times.

John Coleman Assistant Director for Children and Families at Warwickshire County Council, added: “I would like to thank Wright Hassall for their kind donation of Easter eggs and rabbits which I am sure will help to brighten the day for our children in care and care leavers during this difficult time.”
