Date: Monday, 14 December 2020 - 2:00pm to 3:00pm

It is with great pleasure I invite you to join us on Monday 14 December at 2pm for an exclusive Chancellor’s event with guest speaker Lemn Sissay MBE, English author and broadcaster.
With the current challenges we are all experiencing, emphasis more than ever is on how we must work together to help society react to challenges created by the coronavirus pandemic and lead the recovery effort that follows.

We are committed to widening access to a quality higher education and to ensuring positive outcomes for our students. We will explore the themes of opportunity, access and talent, and how our students at our six locations across the UK can help you and our communities rebuild and create better futures.

In 2018 Coventry City Council’s Children’s Services embarked on a project that would end with a group of the city’s talented children in care featuring in a flagship TV documentary called ‘Superkids – Breaking Away from Care’. Lemn Sissay was on board to share his own experiences of growing up in care and to give the young people the tools and confidence to express their experiences through poetry.

The pandemic has been devastating for many communities, families and businesses but, as always, necessity has created innovation and a step change in many aspects of our lives, including how we work. We can never go back to how things were, and innovation is a key strength of Coventry University Group and our students.

Young people have been disproportionately affected by the pandemic, with youth unemployment rising at a much higher rate than the national average and we need to ensure the right opportunities exist for talented young people to play their part in the nation’s rebuilding.
This online event replaces the annual Chancellor’s Event which cannot take place this year due to the pandemic. We do hope you are able to join us on Monday 14 December from 2pm to 3pm
