Jubilee Church is a city-wide Christian church, meeting in Coventry. We are passionate about Coventry and its people and as such aim to show them the love of Christ in their everyday lives.
At Jubilee we celebrate, encourage and showcase creativity in all its forms. We have been involved in the staging of art exhibitions at Fargo Village, we run a successful monthly Open Mic Night in a city centre pub as well as having very close involvement with Coventry Motofest.
Coventry Motofest is a weekend festival in the city centre dedicated to the wonders of Coventry’s motor industry past, present and future, and was the brainchild of one of our leaders, James Noble. It came from a desire to see the city centre filled with people enjoying themselves and learning about our city’s amazing heritage.
We meet as a whole in Coventry city centre, but also as smaller community groups around the city. This enables us to meet different needs in different areas of Coventry. As such, a year ago we set up SaturDads, a monthly Saturday morning group for male carers and their pre-school aged kids to meet together and support each other over a bacon batch and a cuppa, whilst having a fun time with their children.
Our name comes from a passage in the Bible, Isaiah chapter 61, which talks about the year of our Lord’s favour, or jubilee, comforting those who mourn, proclaiming freedom to captives and releasing prisoners from darkness. We believe that “prisoners” are not just those in prison, but also those imprisoned mentally, emotionally or by circumstances.
We are delighted to be Champions and continue to play an important role in the development of community life in Coventry and Warwickshire.
