Armonico Consort is a critically acclaimed music charity, based in Warwickshire. The charity receives no guaranteed state funding, and is grateful to the generosity of the trusts, companies and individuals who support them.
Their activities range from staging world-class concerts and creating new operas to providing free music education workshops. Since 2001, Armonico Consort has experimented with ways of bringing high-quality choral & orchestral music and opera to new audiences, with dramatic staging and innovative programming. They employ hundreds of professional musicians each year, and work with world-class artists, such as Nicola Benedetti, Sir Willard White and Russell Watson.
The AC Academy – Armonico’s creative learning programme – has reached over 100,000 young people in the last ten years, providing free, first-class music education opportunities. Their choir creation scheme sees teachers trained to become choir leaders, leaving behind a sustainable impact in each school. The charity aims to create over 200 choirs across the country in the next five years, training 200 choir leaders, leaving a legacy that will reach around half a million children by 2020.
Nick Drew, Head of Development and Planning said: “Coventry and Warwickshire is a great place for Armonico Consort to exist, as we represent a vital force to the cultural life of the area – through innovative performances, as well as providing a musical legacy in the schools we work with. There is huge opportunity for us to secure further partnerships with the many flourishing businesses in our community, and continue to inspire thousands of local people through music!” For more information on Armonico Consort please visit www.armonico.org.uk or call Sian Dorward on 01926 800109.
