A Crafty Beer interview with The King’s Singers

Singing sessions for children and older people

Armonico Consort is waving goodbye to lockdown with an exciting three-day, online, festival (15-17 July).

Armonico Consort’s Unlocked Festival will feature live recorded concerts, interviews, singing workshops, musical recollections, a virtual choir and more, all delivered free via its Facebook and YouTube channels.

Among the highlights, wine expert Oz Clarke joins singers, instrumentalists and Artistic Director Christopher Monks, for a live, recorded performance of Oz & Armonico Drink to Music (Part 1 of 4).  It is the second in a brand new concert series of socially-distanced performances filmed at The Court House, Warwick, announced by the choir last month.

Members of The King’s Singers are Christopher Monks’ latest guests in the engaging Crafty Beer interview series and violinist Salomé Rateau shares her recollections and plays Spring from Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons with Armonico’s baroque musicians in Unlocking Baroque Memories.

The Festival centrepiece is a massed virtual choir featuring the whole Armonico family singing a special version of the Beach Boys’ classic God Only Knows.  The track was recorded live at The Court House, Warwick by its professional musicians, using baroque instruments!  There are contributions from members of its AC Academy choirs and Scholars and from its Voice Squad workplace and community choirs including University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire singing from their ambulance bay and Austin Heath Retirement Village, Leamington Spa, from their garden.

The festival also includes a final live Sing ‘n’ Shine children’s singing session with Patrick Stockbridge, a Sing with Simon workshop for older people and another chance to see the first of the new live, recorded concerts, Dido and Aeneas.

Armonico Consort’s Unlocked Festival takes place from 15-17 July via Facebook www.facebook.com/armonicoconsort and YouTube www.youtube.com/armonicoconsort.  For full details visit www.armonico.org.uk
